hello, so i have gotten my copr, got the visa which expires by feb 2023. I plan to come to canada in novemeber and im a single applicant. However my doubt is, if i get married now and get the marriage certificate and all, would i still need to declare that change in my status now, i thought one had to declare that when you got the ready for visa email, its then that they asked for any disparities in any information that i had presented. Now that i have my visa and copr, can i get married now and declare it after landing? can that be an issue?

also kindly shed some light that say if one isnt married how easy or difficult would it be to get tourist visa for my partner?

thank you

Yes, getting married now and then declaring it after landing is a very very big issue. This will mean you have misrepresented your status on landing and will mean that you will never be able to sponsor your spouse for PR. This could also cause problems for your own PR status for failing to declare a spouse and misrepresenting your status as single during landing.

If you get married before landing, it is mandatory that you notify IRCC and then go through the process of adding your spouse to your application. You must also return your COPR and wait for IRCC to process your spouse's paperwork and then issue you a new COPR. You cannot land on the COPR issued to you as a single person.

If you want to avoid the above process and complete landing as a single individual, then the only option is to get married AFTER you land in Canada and become a PR.

You have 2 chocies:
1) get married now. Update IRCC of your new status and add your spouse to your application. Your spouse will need to be added to the application with updated forms, go through and pass medical, police and backgroudn checks. You will need to wait for all the process to be completed and new COPRs will be issued for both you and your new spouse.
2) Do not get married. Travel and land as single with your current COPR. Return to where your spouse is or travel to somewhere together or your spouse get TRV to come to Canada. Get married AFTER you landed. Then you need to go back to Canada, live there and apply to sponsor your new spouse.
