Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi everyone! This is my first post.

Just a quick question as to the period beyond the residency requirement ; 1095 days to 1460 days

I landed in Canada and became a PR in February 2009. After everything was processed and I toured Canada for 2 weeks, I went back home to resume my job. From February 2009 to May 2011 I had made 4 more short trips for interviews. I finally got a job and moved in end May 2011 and since then only left the country for a few short trips. I've been employed by the same company since June 2011.

From my calculations I can apply for my citizenship in August 2014 after completing 1095 days of physical presence after taking out all the trips. So in my application packet, I suppose they want all info back to August 2010 when I had not permanently moved to Canada yet? I was also unemployed back in my previous country for that period August 2010 to May 2011 till I came here as I was wrapping up my and my family's life there and making the big permanent move.

I understand that I may get a RQ based on the A5 risk indicators as specified residencequestionnaire.wordpress. com / rq-risk-indicators. Is this true?

Anyone had similar experiences where you got your landing done, went back to your previous country to live for about 1 to 2 years and then finally moved and stayed on? How did/is your citizenship application going?

I would worry about this nearer the time. If the rumours are true, you will need more years residency anyway soon...

Zardoz, I'm curious about this (I know it's been gone over before) -- are the rumours that it's going to be introduced into Parliament, or is it an administrative change at the Ministry level? Since the Parliamentary process isn't always that quick, and I don't know if the bill has been written yet, it seems like if the OP is going to apply in August they have a pretty good chance of making it. Are the rumours that you hear more than just the steady reprint of one source article?

No, I have heard nothing from any newer source.

As this is going to need to modify Section 5(1)(c) of the Citizenship Act 1985 I think that it's going to have to pass through the normal legislative path, rather than just someone making up a new "Regulation".

The 2 out of 5 years is a requirement of the citizenship act. This is not an administrative chage but rather a legislative one. This means three readings in both houses and royal assent before it is enacted into law. So it is quite possible that it may not be in effect as of Aug 2014

You mean 3 years out of 4..

Yes. Typing while full of cold and flu meds is not always the best :)
