When does CIC collect your $550?

Around November 14, 2017, our money ($550) was collected by CIC. We don't know what this means. We're assuming they started our application since they collected our money. If you've experienced this, what does this payment represents in the application process?? (SA, AOR, MEDICAL etc)

We don't know our timeline because our lawyer isn't cluing us in, so we're hoping to get answers from fellows on this forum.

We sent our application around Mid August. (we cant check our timelines online)

$550 must be paid before your application even reaches CIC because the receipt proof is part of your application package. If this receipt is not there your application package will be returned. It seems as though your application was only submitted in November and not in August as you might have thought. Your representative should be providing you with proof of AOR once received. Where you will be provided with your application number and UCI if you did not have one previously. Which would allow you to track your sponsorship application via telephone as you will be unable to link it online because you are using a representative.

This really made me worry. We've been trying to contact our lawyer and asking for our timelines. She never said exactly the date when she submitted our files. Though when we spoke to her through a call, she admitted we already have a client ID but she said there's no difference if she gives it to us because something about not being uploaded online yet and we won't know our timeline either way.

Im worried our lawyer is lying to us all this time and the fact we rushed everything and made sure everything was done at the end of July. We are still trying to find out the truth and I hope she has an explanation to all of this...
