Hi all, decided to reach out as I'm now getting very worried

I've applied 'outland' whilst staying here in Canada with my Candian Girlfriend (I have British Passport) . We have been living together all over the world for approx 3 years.

Did my medical, sent my (applying from outside canada forms off, with all evidence, joint bank statement, etc) and I've heard absolutely NOTHING. I know they received it because I sent via courier. No updates on the cic website . . Should I be getting worried? It was sent almost 10 weeks ago. Will they know that I'm applying from outside even though I'm actually staying in Canada right now?

Hi chachacha!
You could call and check they filed you outland. When I applied in September I got AOR, which is usually only sent to inland people. I called a few times until they realized we were telling them we applied outland. So they had somehow filed us wrong.
I wouldn't be too worried if you haven't received an AOR though. That would be a red flag right there. But if I were you, I would call just in case you missed an email or something and maybe get your sponsor's UCI#. She'll have to call and get it herself though.

Oh, and I applied from inside Canada as well, as outland.

They are working on applications received April 7th right now - so if yours was received around this date - then it doesn't sound like you're experiencing anything unusual. You should be hearing something soon.

You are the second person I've seen today saying that outland applicants don't get AOR. I'm really confused. I'm outland and I got both AOR and SA via email.

Sometimes it is sent as an accident. In my case they sent it and people on the forum urged me to check I was not wrongly filed as inland... which I was.
Although, a lot of outland people get AOR with SA. Like literally one right after the other. I got that as well as the first AOR I received as a mistake.

Hope this clarifies a bit!

Last year I believe anyone who received Sponsorship approval between July-Mid November, did not receive AOR. They got SA or request for additional documents. Their practice in general is to issue AOR, and then SA once the approval is completed.

It really seems to depend on time of the year, and how busy they are. So I guess you may or may not receive one.

Ah, ok. That explains it. I got both, about 3-4 days apart with a weekend in between.

I received SA and AOR same day, you just don't know, be patient. It's hard not to worry but once they actuLly get to you - things should move along quickly

Thanks all - hope to hear something soon - trying to keep cool 8)

Im outland and got aor, along with everyone else that i know, and everyone in my VO thread. Not sure why they would think only inlanders get aor. That doesnt make sense.

Warzo explained it a few posts up ^^

Still haven't heard a thing??
Called CIC they told me they can give a status update . . .

FWIW, we applied outland and got AOR, followed by SA the next business day.

Keep calling CIC until someone helps you. If you can't get a helpful person after 3-4 tries, I'd suggest calling your MP. It sounds like you have passed the estimated times for AOR and SA.

Seriously? call our MP. On the site it said they were checking applications received 28th April?
