When planning your move over to your new life there is always the list that you make of ‘things that I need to bring’. The real pain the rear is when you get here and you are asked for something that you could have easily added to the list but now is a real pain to get.
What is on your list? Please feel free to add what you have on your list.
1. One biggy is to change your CV to a resume. You will need to adapt your job search. The Boles book is a good resource to start the process. http://www.amazon.co.uk/What-Color-Your-Parachute-2012/dp/1607740109/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321361198&sr=8-1
2. Credit Report. Make sure that you get your credit report before you start shutting all your accounts down to move.
3. Reference letters. Employers, friends, colleagues, landlords.
4. Health records and medications. Make sure that you get your medical insurance (not travel insurance) sorted out just incase. You will not be covered here for the first three months and a medical emergency could wipe you out financially.
5. Scan and email to yourself non essential documents to reduce the weight of paper that is coming with you. Also backup on a flash, media card or disc for added safety.
6. Veterinary records if bringing the family pet.
7. Kids school reports
8. Educational transcripts.
9. Insurance driving record. I got my motor insurance broker to write a reference/explanation letter of the uk no claims bonus. It did get me a discount on my insurance here.
