Hello!
my name is Sara and I am thinking about moving from italy to British Columbia. I am looking for engineering jobs there.
I have looked up the Government immigration website but there is no information about actions to take before asking the visa. And before asking that, I would like to have a job opportunity. So, how do I get a job opportunity?!
My concern is that sending CVs may not be enough to be selected over a Canadian candidate: I live abroad, I don't have any sponsorship, I am a skilled worker but with limited years of experience. So, I am wondering if you could give me any tips about how to ease the companies' selection process and overcome the fact that I am a foreign worker: is there any concrete possibility to be contacted by a recruiter even though I am a foreign worker who lives abroad? Is there any mandatory preliminary requirement for a foreign employee to be enrolled in the job evaluation process? For instance, should I take IELTS test to prove my English level before applying to jobs in Canada? :-\
Are Canadian companies willing to hire foreign workers or is this made very difficult, perhaps by government laws trying to reduce migration?
If I were younger, I'd come to Canada and search "on site", but now I have a job (and a house, and taxes! :'() and I cannot just leave it without any concrete proposal in my hands!
I'd be really helpful to me if you could give me any information!
Thanks,
Sara
