Hello there, I am looking to apply for permanent residency as I would like to join my sister, niece and nephew who are living near Toronto. I am a little confused as to what, if any, of the pathways I may be eligible for. I am currently studying for a BSc in Psychology as a mature student , and will graduate in 2010. After that, I may consider postgraduate studies in Counselling /Clinical Psychology. I have only ever held relatively junior posts in education, social services and healthcare, none of which would class me as a professional person, and I don't think I fit the profile for the provincial scheme. Is it pointless applying until I've graduated and gained some professional work experience, or do you think I've got a chance given current circumstances?

Thanks

You can look at the immigration classes here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp and see what you qualify for if anything. If you want to apply as an FSW, you can do the self assessment. You could also start off by going to Canada on a student visa. If you do a 2 year course and a year on work permit afterwards, you can apply under Canadian experience class.
