What roll does IELTS play in becoming a Permanent Resident?

How important is the IELTS when applying for a VISA to become a permanent resident?

Is there any other EFFECTIVE ways to prove my English? (If say I cannot do the IELTS)

Also, did anyone take a course to prepare for IELTS?


I know its a few questions but these are really important to me.

Why can't you do the IELTS? Immigration is very clear on that they want you to take it unless your mother tongue is English. You can claim points for English sending documents as proof but if you do that, it is totally up to the visa officer what they give you for points. Very few people have gotten full points like that, most have gotten less points than they asked for and some were not given any points.
