Hello,

As I have got the ITA recently and while filling the form I have come across the topic about the dependents.

In the EE application I have mentioned that I am married and spouse is not accompanying me

Now while filling the ITA for we have to give the reason for the same. what should I have to mention in here as she is a house maker and My plan is to take her to Canada after myself get settled in Canada.

Thanks in Advance for your answers and suggestions.

Hi! I think you might have just answered your own question.

Once you have told the truth about why your spouse isn't accompanying you, you're fine.

Hi can you please update if your application went through with the reason above? It would be great if you could share your exact comment here. I am in a similar situation. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I know your question isn't directed at me but, out of curiosity, is your reason exactly the same? As in, are you only waiting until you are settled (a.k.a. a year or two, before your spouse joins you)?

The reason I ask is that, if you list your spouse as unaccompanying, you will have to go through the spousal sponsorship process once you are settled (which requires a whole new application, and can take 12 months or more to be processed).

Whereas if you list your spouse as accompanying, your spouse could just 'soft land' (i.e. claim PR, and then go back to your home country immediately afterwards) and wait until you are settled before he/she returns to Canada. That way, your spouse can come back to Canada as soon as you are settled, rather than waiting for a spousal sponsorship application to be made and processed. (Just as long as your spouse returns to Canada in time to meet the physical residence requirement of being in Canada for 2 out of the first 5 years to maintain his/her Permanent Residency). This seems like the less complicated option to me...

this means she is accompanying! If you write that, it will indicate either:
1. you're cutting corner for showing the proper PoF
2. you're manipulating the CRS points
or both
