Does anyone have an idea how the VOs prioritize list of cases: based on the date the CIC received the application, date when the VO received an application or based on other factors, such as families with kids processed first?

Well, it's different from one VO to the other. As for our VO, it seems they do it on the basis of the date it was received by CPC-M. But again, it also seems they process Iranian applicants in a separate queue.

Bottomline: I wish I knew! :-X

What have you noticed with the Iranian applicants do they get it faster or slower? compared to others

In our VO? faster. They applied after us, but their cases were opened almost immediately. Our case was looked at after 7months since it arrived at the VO.

Having said that, a dew of the ones (Iranian cases) transferred from Damascus are still waiting for their visas. So there seems to be three groups in our VO.

There is no preferenial processing for families with kids.

They does not seem to be processing files as they arrive because some cases are processed immediately, some later. BCGirl, they started processing your case later than mine. How they define who should be processed first, who later? The only answer that comes to my mind is that they start processing cases evenly and processing start date in eCas does not indicate the reality.

Well, based on our GCMS notes that we just received, they started processing it on the 15th of Jan. eCAS was updated a month later.

I normally don't complain, but it wasn't nice to see our files not touched while they were processing files after us for a long seven months. :-X

Yeah, that's what I am referring to. They are not processing them based on the date when case arrives in Ankara. They have some preferences in processing.

Exactly. The irony is it only took them one single day to approve everything, but by that time our medicals were already expired, so now we have to wait for the extensions!

I hope yours goes through fast and without any further delays :)

Processing of my case worries me too because our case is too much straightforward, I even think that they have job for a day only. I just need to gain more patience :)))

I've been wondering this too.
Just looking at cases from Hong Kong, which has an extremely long average processing time, some people get their visa very quickly, and others take a long time. It looks like someone quickly glances over the application when it first arrives, decides if it is an easy case, then puts it in a priority line if it is. For example, look how quickly Fencesitter's application was processed. Same with Accra: some people are getting their visas in just a few months, but other people's applications have not even been started after 7 or 8 months. They must be looking them over at first and picking out the 'easy' ones.

My husband thinks that the visa officers at Accra at least, deliberately take a long time with 'questionable' cases, assuming that if it is a fake marriage, they will have broken up by the time processing is almost done, and certainly before the appeal rolls around, thus making the visa officers' jobs easier. Time can weed out the fakes. Unfortunately this causes a lot of stress for people with unusual marriages, but who are nontheless sincere.

Our VO serves people from Azerbaijan, Iran, Georgian, Turkey, and Turkmenistan. Most of the forum members here are Iranians, and so far only 3-4 of us are applicants from the other countries. My husband is from Georgia.

All non-Iranian cases were looked at in January, whereas the Iranian cases go "In Process" after 1-3 months depending on the complexity of their cases.

I agree that there aren't enough non-Iranian cases to make a trend out of this, but still, it can be an indication.

Another interesting point, which goes contrary to what I've observed here in the other VOs, quite a few Iranian applicants who applied in July onwards and who have received their visas, also reported their medicals to be valid till 2014. I'm really at a loss about this one!

Don't worry, your eCAS is "In Process" since January, so at least you know something good is going on! The background checks will conclude soon and your wife will be flying to Canada soon :)
