Okay so we sent in our application yesterday..we are applying outland. What happens next?

I do know they will review to see if we have everything(forms are signed, nothing missing, etc etc....

Can someone give me the step by step process of the whole journey assuming everything goes smoothly?

Thank you!

You will need a lot of patience from here. CIC will or may be not send you an AOR acknowledgment of receipt. Then you the sponsor will receive a letter from Mississauga staying you have been approved of Sponsor . In this letter it will say where your application is going to be processed . From their it is a waiting game. On the sa latter you will have an application # you will be able to check ecas with this number using the applications information.

A UCI # is provided for both the sponsor and the applicant, but i was never able to get access with my UCI #

1. You wait for them to contact you telling they've either a) received your application or b) approved the sponsor. Some people get both of these, some only the latter. If you provided an e-mail address this communication will most likely happen by email.
2. You wait some more. At this point you can start checking the application status on ECAS. I'm not exactly sure at which point the application is visible in ECAS, but it definitely will be after SA.
3. If either the Mississauga office or your local visa office requests any extra documents at any time, do your best in providing them what they want.
4. Once ECAS shows "Decision Made" on the "Permanent Residence Application Status" column, start expecting either a) COPR in the mail b) passport request or c) a request for a passport copy, PR card photos and some forms, depending on the applicant's nationality and the visa office.
5. When you have the COPR, you can land as a PR by either (re-)entering Canada at a land border or by air, or by making an appointment at a local CIC office.

Hope this helps, others can fill in what I've missed.

That would be sometime after SA, but I don't know more than that. I sent my police check with the application and know nothing about Mexico.

My sponsor got approved in December and has a uci number but I did not get my own. I have been checking ecas using sponsor info. Should I be getting my own uci?

The applicant usually gets their own UCI when they get AOR. Of course some VOs never send them...

Your application is assigned a UCI & an application # on the AOR. The applicant would only have a UCI if they had a previous Visitor Record or if they have ever had a Visitor extension approved. I am not aware of the applicant receiving their own UCI on the AOR.

I am assuming that eventually you will receive your own UCI, but not sure when that is. I had a UCI from a previous Visitor extension approval.

If you order notes, you will see a UCI assigned to the applicant. Ive never tried logging in with Ecas with it so not sure if it works.

Hello Everyone,

I also have a question because we applied back in May of 2015 everything has came back very good my spouse was approved to be a sponsor and I hope it stays positive until the end.... However CIC emailed my spouse and I that we need to send FBI certs for me (which I already did... Those take 3-4 months to come back), Pay the Permanent Residence Fees and also to submit the CSQ for Quebec .... so my question is have we been approved or are we still in the process of getting approved ?

I live in the USA but was born in Mexico so our apps are being processed in MXcity and they asked for these things listed above...

Anyone have an idea on what I should be checking on or how much longer on average we are still looking ahead ?

Thanks ???
