Hi,

I am interested in applying for the Canada PR but I am yet to complete 1 year of employment in Canada by 2-3 months. Also, I was out on vacation outside Canada for 1 month during my sting so far here.

My question is: when can I file for the PR?
1. Can I file it now without having to wait for 1 year of employment to be completed? OR
2. Can I file it on the day which completes my 1 calendar year of canada employment? OR
3. Do I have to wait for the 1 year of employment + the 1 month of vacation that I spent outside Canada?

I appreciate any info I can get on above questions. Thanks!

Thanks,

1. If you are eligible for CEC after you have completed the 12 months of full time work. You can apply before the 12 months but it will be refused.
2. Unless it was paid vacation you have to wait until you have the 12 months.

Thanks PMM.

It looks like waiting till I complete the full 12 months. As for the 1 month vacation, what classifies as a paid vacation? In my case, I was employed all the time through my vacation, but I had to go on a loss of pay for a week, since I did not have enough earned leaves to cover my vacation duration (company policy). Does that still classify as 'paid vacation'?

Thanks,

that 1 week was unpaid. After you are done gathering your 12 months, add another extra 2-3 weeks of grace period, just to be safe.

Thanks, iamroth! That certainly looks the most probable option. With the 12,000 cap coming into play, I am trying to work this all out with minimal time loss. Hence these questions. :)
