I'm just wondering how much is the possibility of approval for conjugal partnership M-F in the Philippines. I am still legally married here because we don't have divorce. I will be having my interview on November 13,2012 and my anxiety level is getting high. My partner is already losing hope he says that the approval of M-F is very slim in the Philippines. And that the interview is just formality sake of denial. Can someone please enlighten me. We have been waiting for this for more than a year now and somehow I've already lost hope. Please help us Thanks

I do not think interview is done for a sake of refusal, as they can easily refuse your case saying there is no enough evidence. The reason for interview is that you have pretty much info but not completely satisfactory, they want to clarify some points and make sure that your relationship is genuine. So, actually, having an interview is a good sign.

Conjugal is not very slim in just the Philippines it has a 1% to 2% chance of approval period. I can not even imagine your anxiety levels BUT, the Philippines has the main reason for conjugal relationships to be approved, they don't recognize divorce... This is the immigration barrier and what the IO would be looking for. I am sure you have read the paragraph below but I don't believe that the interview is a formality for denial, I believe the IO sees and recognize the immigration barrier and now it is up to you to prove the rest, that indeed you have a bona fide relationship.

Conjugal partner category is for foreign national partners of Canadian or permanent resident sponsors who would normally apply as common-law partners but are unable to live together continuously for one year, due to circumstances beyond their control, such as immigration barrier, religious reasons, marital status, or sexual orientation.
In most cases, the foreign partner is also not able to marry their sponsor and qualify as a spouse. In all other respects, the couple is similar to a common-law couple or a married couple, meaning they have been in a bona fide (genuine) conjugal relationship for a period of at least one year.
However, a significant degree of attachment and mutually interdependent relationship must be demonstrated between both partners for this category. They must also provide proof of what obstacles (or restrictions) exist that prevent cohabitation or marriage.

Thank you for your replies :) I appreciate it. Now I have more confidence about this interview that I am not looking at it as a bad thing. I really appreciate it. I have been crying all day almost everyday.

Wipe away those tears I truely believe an interview atleast for you is a good thing! I think they just want you to show that it is a committed relationship take everything with you even if you included it in your application anything that you may have inquired since sending the application as well more phone records, texts, online chats, phone calls, visits anything and everything the more you have to prove your case the better! Good Luck!

Ok will do that :) but most of the ones I sent in the application are originals. I dont have copy of it like tickets and receipts

ok well from your profile you applied over a yr ago... maybe it would be a good thing to show that your relationship has continued in that year maybe this is what the interview is about, when couples are apart it's harder to have a relationship, especially long distance relationships. so everything you have from the last year would be great it shows the relationship continued and its all new evidence you are showing them.

Yes I would do that, they asked me additional proofs last July. So what I have now is a continuation of the time where I sent the additional proofs.

Perfect! I also believe that the interview in your case is a good thing, and with the extra proofs that you have from the last year since you apply, you will have a strong case. Just trust that your relationship is genuine and that the VO will see that, prepare yourself by making sure you know a lot about your partner - his current work, his family, etc, and you will be fine!

Good luck,
Sweden

Good Luck with your interview Em!
Just for some hope.. here's a link to the profile of somebody that was approved M-F inConjugal. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/profiles/marisol-u28389.html
Nothing you can do now will change the outcome that will be in a few weeks.. will your partner be with you at the interview?

I can't afford the trip either for the same reason.. so I'm going into credit card debt for awhile I guess. We can't survive over 9 months apart at a time. No news yet with our app.
