What is the general time frame for Parents Sponsorship under the new program?

Hi everyone,

I want to know where the 5000 applications from 2013 for Parents and Grand Parents are now? Are they expected to be finalized in a year or two? or are they in a queue as well making this whole sponsorship process of parents very inefficient still?

I think it would be very unrealistic to expect 1-2 year processing times. Plan for three years at an absolute minimum - likely more.

CIC is still working through the substantial backlog of parent / grandparent applications that were previously received. Also, I think it would be unfair if parent / grandparent applications were processed faster than spousal sponsorship applications. Consequently I doubt you are ever going to see parent / grandparent sponsorship times drop below three years.

Thanks. Is there an excel sheet of 2014 parents sponsorship? Of course CIC mismanages Citizenship applications of those who applied under new rules and old rules and gives priority to new ones as stated by many on the forum. I am wondering if the same is happening to parents sponsorship as well or not.

I got an e-mail in June telling me the parent sponsorship was accepted in the 5000 pile. However, I am not able to access the file online. Anyone else having this issue?
