what is the difference between year attended and year awarded?

what is the difference between year attended and year awarded? the application form shows both.

As per my knowledge,
Year attended: from yr - to yr (Ex: 2005-2011)
Year awarded: In which year you are given the degree certificate (Ex: 2011)

If the degree is extended by 2 yeara then year attended will also extend or will be same. Like my btech batch was 2011-2015 but it got cleared in 2017 so what will be the attended year in my case.. it will be 2011-2017 ?? But i never attended clg after 2015.
Kindly suggest
