What is the criminality checks, and how can it get expedited?

Hello everyone,

What exactly is the "criminality check" step in the PR process? What can we do to expedite it?

Our FSW PR application got stalled on criminality checks since 2011.

In our GCMS notes, my RCMP screening status is empty, but my wife says "no traceable record". What does this say? Should I get a RCMP fingerprint?

BTW, our application was in process in Buffalo.

Criminality check - checking for any criminal convictions in countries you've visited/lived in, etc. Unfortunately, there is no way to expedite it.
It seems they haven't started your RCMP screening. When they do and if needed, they will ask for fingerprints.

Then isn't it strange that it hasn't been started since 2011?

My wife is the primary applicant. Is that the reason they have started hers?

Not necessarily, may be she hasn't travelled as much or after a name check, there was no match. May be your name is quite common, or someone with the same name has criminal convictions and they want to make sure it is not you.
