What is Ghost Email?

I've been reading that some people received ghost email (I guess before receiving Passport request) but want to know what does that mean?

An email sent by CIC to EE applicants where nothing changes in the EE profile.

So then does it come before getting the final results from CIC?

Not necessarily - you can get a ghost email anytime. It usually happens when someone 'touches' your file. I've had them a few times but nothing has changed on MyCIC.

The email comes anytime your application is updated in CIC. Sometimes you can see the updates and sometimes you don't see any updates from the last status you remember. Hence it is called as ghost email.
