What is done first medical or background chek

Hi All,

just wondering what is done first the medical exam request or the background check?
I got a reply to my email to ottawa where i was asking if they got our medical or not and they said yes they are now in the system (we also paid the PR fees) so i m just wondering if there is something pending now.
