Hi all,

I have such a huge headache over this, as I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my Sponsored Pr process.

A month ago I applied for Common-Law Sponsorship (my partner as a sponsor).
The file hasn't been opened yet and we're expecting this to happen hopefully next month, the middle of November.

At the end of August I also sent the application for the extension of my OWP.
I haven't hear from them about it since then.

I'm going back to Poland for a month in the middle of November and I'm trying to think of all posibble situations.
If the extension is approved then I can show it on the border/airport on my way back, no problem.

What if my extension is denied while I'm out? What if they give me 30 days to leave Canada and I'll be already out but they won't know about it?
I've read somewhere that if you are forced to leave Canada then you have to inform about that special ppl at the bored while leaving as otherwise there won't be any record of you leaving. O.O

I'm asking also because if I try to return after the deportation order has been issued and there was no record of me leaving afterwards, they will surely deny me entry at the airport. ???

Please, does anybody have a better knowledge about this situation? I had a hard time finding anything on the net. :'(

What kind of OWP do you hold and on what basis are you applying to extend it?

It looks like you may have an IEC. If so, then you cannot extend it (IECs can't be extended). Your only option is to apply for a new / second IEC if you qualify.

Am I right in understanding that you currently hold an IEC? If so, then unfortunately you should expect your OWP application to be refused.

Or perhaps I've got my facts wrong and you're not on an IEC visa at this time?

Yes, it's from IEC and it expired a month ago.
Before it expired I sent the application for the extension.

And before that I called a few times the immigration, as I was considering a lot of options, and they told me ( at least 3 times) that even if my OWP is only for one year, I can apply for the extension. I mean, I explained to them my situation - IEC etc.

Where did you get the info that it's incorrect? :o

1. Assume you are a Polish citizen. The IEC is one time visa and can't be extended. Read: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/poland-pologne/experience_canada_experience/working_holiday-vacances_travail.aspx?view=d
2. As you are not eligible, you can expect a refusal from Vegreville.

See the FAQ page on the site PMM provided. It specifically addresses the question of extensions and confirms extensions aren't possible:

Thank you for such detailed answers.

....seriously, I've been so stressed with the immigration and now this.....
If you are right then I will be refused the extension for 100%.
Which takes me back to the worst case scenario - deportation, yes?

So should I cancel the process now (is it possible?) and leave the country or wait and tell the ppl (which ppl btw?) at the airport that I'm officially leaving?
