What if I am unavailable when the approval comes ?

Hi,

I am an express entry applicant for permanent residence of Canada.

I received an ITA in Oct 2018 and submitted all my documents by Nov 2018. The estimated completion date on the IRCC application status page shows May 2019.

I am a marine engineer and need to join back work (on ship) which means I will be unavailable from Feb 2019 to July 2019 (6 months).

What if I get an approval during this time ?

I may receive an approval while I'm in the middle of the ocean and it could take me a month or two to get back on land.

Is there a provision for seafarers in such cases ?

If someone could please shed some light on this.

There is no specific provision for seafarers. You would have to contact IRCC to request an extension for submitting your passport.

Is there a particular way to request them for extension for submission of passport ? like a standard format request form or do I just send them an email ?
Also, what is their time frame within which they expect you to submit the passport after receiving an approval mail ?
