Something is not right here "visitors visas had expired"?

Some Ottawa residents are angry a family of five has been sent home to the U.K. by Canadian immigration authorities.

1. Remember they only print stories that will sell newspapers.
2. The family has been here since June/10 as visitors, are the kids in school? Yes, no study permits I bet , So local taxpayers footing bill. http://www.ahjohn.ca/ahjohn_en/ah-john-dot-ca-info-920119039219-56-11661.html
3. Why should they wait in Canada? Especially since their status had expired. No legal status in Canada.
4. It would really be nice to know the whole story.

We rarely get the whole story - newspapers or other media.

They don't actually tell the full story but it sounds like they applied for PR and then decided to come to Canada as visitors before it was approved and their application is taking longer than expected. How does he know he was "days away from getting an LMO"? What if the LMO had been refused or also taken longer than expected? And did they actually apply to extend their visitor status after they had been in Canada for 6 months? Their status would have expired in December and then they have 3 months to restore or leave.

I knew a woman who use to work for an employment agency that helped temporary workers come to Canada and she said that even though they told people over and over not to come to Canada until their LMO and work permit are approved, they still would, with kids, pets, you name it. And then they would be burning through their savings, calling the employment agency every day and waiting for the LMO to come through with no guarantee that it actually would. She told me about one guy who had been advised by some people he met on the internet just to pack up and come to Manitoba, lots of work. Of course when they did, the people weren't very helpful and of course nobody wanted to go through the trouble of getting an LMO to hire them. They were refused to enrol their kids in school because they were on visitor status and after their 6 months and money was almost up, they called this employment agency again begging for help. I don't know how that ended though.

I think the story is very suspect, I suspect that they did not (and still don't) understand the system and failed to apply for an extension.
LMO - well if they can forecast the date they could start a real profitable business :)
