I was studying in Vancouver and had to return to my home country to fulfill a 2 year military service responsibility, I will be halfway through it soon and now I am thinking and making plans of heading back. I had to withdraw from my school because there is no way they would have held my place for 2 years but they promised me that when i reapply back they would 90% take me in anyways because i still have some money in their account. My question is in the 2 year period what happens to my student visa, will I have to reapply because I already have the visa paper and stamp on my passport and it would be pretty easy to get proof that I was not in Canada for the 2 years and that I was serving my service in my home country. I would still be returning before the end of the validity date on the instruction letter.

It's no longer valid because you took a break in your studies. You need a new study permit. Yes, you need to reapply.
