Hi,

I'm currently waiting on a decision on a study permit application I sent to the LA VAC. My tourist permit expires on Dec. 5, and if I don't get a result by then, I should be under implied status.

If the decision on my application arrives by Dec. 15, by when do I have to leave Canada? Do I have to leave the same day a decision is made by IRCC?

Thanks!

If the decision is negative - you should leave within 30 days of receiving the refusal.

Thanks Scylla. Just to clarify, if the decision is negative, I will still be considered in 'legal status' within 30 days after refusal right? Or am I already under a removal order upon receiving the refusal?

No - you won't have legal status during those 30 days. You will be out of status in Canada for the 30 days.

It's unlikely that CIC would immediately issue a removal order for you.

Ok. Will my being 'out of status' count against my immigration record? For instance, if I leave within 15 days after a negative decision and I reapply for a work or study permit from my home country, will my being 'out of status' become a 'blemish' in my future applications? Thanks!

It shouldn't if you leave within 30 days from the negative desicion.
