What happens if sponsor is refused?

I read on the top of one of the forms that says if sponsor is refused, do you wish to proceed with PR application? I don't understand this, if the sponsor is refused, what happens to the PR application? Will it be refused as well? Or do they continue to process it like normal until the sponsor corrects whatever caused him/her to be refused in the first place?

In practically all cases, you are supposed to stop the application if sponsor is refused. Then you would fix whatever the problem was, and re-submit the app.

If you select to continue with app, then CIC will just keep processing the app and charge the fees, but it's a guaranteed refusal since sponsor was already refused. So only people that intend to appeal on H&C grounds should select to continue.
