What Family means?

Hello Everyone,

While filling the form there are places where we have to give information about our family i.e. Main Applicant's family.

Initially I went on the usual meaning of family and filled in my parents and siblings details too. But, later I realised that as per Canadian Immigration terminology Family includes only Spouse, Common-law partner or Children.

So, any information related to our parents, siblings or anyone else than the "Family" should be removed from the Application. In the main application I actually filled the name of my Parents and sister under the family information which IS wrong. Family details should only include details about your spouse, common-law partner or children.

I would request the seniors to please correct me if I am wrong here.

The family details, other than applicant spouse/children are listed on the IMM 5406.

In the IMM 5406 it asks for names in native language too. Where they should be mentioned? Alongside the english names on the same form or a copy of that form?
