Hi guys, my hubby and i applied out-landing spousal sponsorship. Currently our case is in stag two, have been waiting for almost 4 months for processing, we haven't heard anything from visa office. Have to say the long wait makes me worried, I wonder what exactly would visa officer check in stage two?

I'd like to write down our case detail and hopefully our case will be a helpful for anyone who are facing the similar situation.

About our case our biggest concern is the fact that my sponsor was on social welfare for 4 month during 2013, Nov to 2014, Feb. He went to the welfare office in person and got a paperwork stating he received 0$ in the month, and they told him they withdraw his file. He has been working since 2014 Jan, the payment is good enough to support our life.
We provided his working contract, pay stubs, bank account records, option C printout(which has the number of how much social welfare he received) explanation letter of why he was on social welfare, and our future plans especially for the part how we gonna support us when we move to Canada, i also provided my bank account record and resume to further explain i can be independent and my financial situation is secure. We got letter in Oct, 2014 that the sponsor was approved, file transferred to Beijing for further processing. It has been months still we heard nothing from them since then.
He has student loan hasn't paid back, i did some research, it seems not an issue with CIC. He may have some government debts numbers should be minor and he doesn't recall what they are, but for sure not immigration loan, and he has never sponsored anyone before and never declared bankrupt. This is the first marriage for both of us, and our relationship is genuine. Three years old age gap, appearance quite fit. My education and working experience is better, and my savings are reasonable to my work.

I wonder if the sponsor got approved, whether beijing would take social welfare history or his possible minor debts record with the government as a red flag or possibly deny us due to/ related to this reason?

Hi

It is perfectly normal to be waiting for 4 months and doesn't mean anything negative about your app.

The welfare should have no effect on the app, as he had been off of it for many months by the time the app had been submitted. The student debt will have no effect on the app.

Thank you for your reply, the long waiting just isnt easy for us, and i feel quite curious what exactly they gonna check, my sponsor is a native Canadian, almost 33 years old, i find it's hard to know all his past with the government, and i dont know what CIC gonna find out if they dig deeper of his past, i do feel he is a wonderful hubby to me. Really wish our application will work out this time. Have been dealing with the case for almost 1 year, it's not easy...

Usually in the second stage they try to verify that the relationship is genuine. They will also be doing background checks on you. The welfare should not be a problem because he provided proof he is off it now and has a job.

Basically: the stage 1 is about the sponsor.
Stage 2 is about the sponsored and the relationship between you two.
In my understanding, cic only cares about welfare on the first stage. If he was approved you won't have any problem.
You've been waiting four months since you sent your application to cic? It's perfect normal this waiting period.
Just wait.
