Hi,

I will study in Canada BC soon, already got accepted. In my country, University is tuition-free and my only reason to study in Canada is to stay forever. My parents have to make so much effort to pay the tuition!!

Now I read that there will be changes to the Provincial Nominee Program British Columbia.

Do you think that International Students (I mean International Graduates from a BC college) aren't allowed to apply for it anymore? What do you think?
It's important because if not, there's no point in paying expensive international tuition for Canada.

Thank you

The rules for Canada's immigration programs do change on a fairly regular basis. So what the rules are now doesn't necessarily tell you what the rules will be once you finish your schooling in Canada. There's never a guarantee that studying in Canada will get you PR.

To answer your question, yes - it does look like the BC PNP program is introducing some changes. Impossible to say what those changes will be until they are announced later this year.

well with new express entry its getting more difficult to get PR for students and best way i feel now is to get a skilled job in ur home country for a few years an then apply for PR through express entry no need to spend so much money on education. There very little advantage for students with express entry.

guys do read express entry section of the forum before u decide to study in canada

Hi,

BC has never disallowed internal candidates who have passed out from a public/private instituton based in BC for applying for their PNP. If you see their express entry scheme for International Graduate Stream, you can gauge that. You just need an offer letter of indeterminate full time position. They have put a temporary moratorium on their PNP for introducing a few changes or probably because quota for some of the schemes have been achieved. The changes might be like, for instance, they might stop accepting skilled workers for some specific occupations, what SK and NS have done recently. But for sure, they are not going to make things any harder for their international graduates. For that matter, every province values their internal candidates. What I feel is that, studying is the best route for getting a provincial nomination and subsequently getting a PR rather than wasting time in the express entry pool, and hoping for getting an ITA.

Thanks

and what you have met santa clause too haha.....no one knows what would be the changes. dont give people false hope. i agree studying is best route ifu want to get PNP but problem with PNP is by the time u graduate and get a job PNP's change. PR in general is getting tougher for students. best option is to work i ur home country for few years earn money while working and then when u have enough experience apply for express entry. no need to spend so much on education unless u really want to study.
