Hi there, I'm just getting started on my application for my husband and I'm unsure about the first preliminary question which directs to the correct checklist/forms/application:
"What country does the person being sponsored reside in?"

He is Japanese and in Canada on a visitor visa. Does this qualify him to be residing in Canada, or does he technically still reside in Japan?

I've seen some mixed answers about this so thanks for any clarity you can provide!

1. His residence is Japan.

Thanks for the reply. So I would put Japan even though we're doing in-country application?

Agree with above poster. In this circumstance "residing" basically means living in and in your case the applicant is living in Canada in order to apply INLAND so for this question put residing in Canada and canadian address. Further on down the line in the application forms there will be a section where he can list all the addresses/countries he's lived in including his country of citizenship.
