What can a international student do to tackle bullying?

Hi,
I am new to this forum...I am studying in Canada over an year now and I have been bullied by my classmate who is from the same country as i am..The bullying has reached an extreme point where my classmate just sit's near me and slowly start to torture me with his verbal abuse. I really do not want to ASSAULT HIM as this can get me deported from Canada but what can i do...I just want to stay away from him and thats all what i want..I tried to ignore him and even listen to the crap he tells me just so he can stay away from me, What can i do in Canada, i dont have any relatives here to help me out, i am all by myself...

Should i talk to the college about it? And if anyone knows, what are the possible steps that the college can take to prevent my harassment.?

Reading this made me a lil sad for you and angry at the same time. I would firstly like to ask if his abuse has just been verbal? Complaining regarding him might make things worse for you, so if its just verbal you better ignore him. Or is it that his comments makes you a laughing stock? Either ways have you tried totally ignoring his comments?

Oh yeah totally...But his comments are extremely extremely hurtful sometimes...I tried to completely ignore him so many times and it just does not stop.. I am not a laughing stock, in the middle of the lecture he just sits near me and start to slowly call me extremely bad things and because it is the middle of the lecture i cant even change seats...

Why would complaining make things worse for me... I mean i cant hit him and I cant complain either? In this way i will die inside everyday from his verbal comments on me. I mean i gotta do something if it doesnt stop? What should i do? Should I complain to the college regarding him?

I asked not to complain only because in many cases people tend to get aggressive when reported. But you can try that if you feel it will be effective. Also I am not saying ignore him, that might make him do it again actually I was saying ignore what he is saying. Do you have counselor at your college?

PS. Which college? Also do you have a close group of friends?

be a man, be a fighter, go and first watch Sunny Deol movie and learn how to use 2 1/2 kilo ka haath... No if, no but, its your honour which comes first. You must not cry like a women. You must show who you are....

I am in Canada and i am ready to fight for you. I will piss him off , but you first promise me that you will pay my hospital bills in case something went wrong.

oh by the way who is he..is he from india or from other country...see u have to talk to him that wht he wnt and why he is doing so..and you have to complaint about him directly to college or high commision otherwise he will more encoreged by u and continue to misbehave

Well even this is a good option if possible. Just like you even he would be afraid to lose his permit and VISA.

i think it will not result as cancellation of study permit ....because he is complaining about some body not complained by some body and who is he ..an indian student or canadia?

remember high commission is more in the favor of international students....

I didn't get you :-/. What I am saying is if he complains then the accused might be scared of loosing his SP.

I am just curious to know why this guy has picked you from the lot - did you have any tiff with him ? I know it is difficult to ignore but of course, its time you confront him and ask him to spill the beans. Hey, you are the only person who know the entire situation so it will be difficult for others to comprehend and advice. Be strong and try to piss him off as much as you can - good luck !!
