Hi.
I got the PR and now I am wondering which bank should I go! I know credit card is important for getting a credit history in Canada!

any ideas?

I was with TD but I am not sure if I should go back there?

thanks :D

I don't want to pay a lot per month ... how much you think I have to pay for Debitcard and Creditcard?

unless you sign up for a credit card through a newcomer program at a bank, it will be quite difficult to qualify for one. generally, PRs can only get "secured" credit cards which require you to pay a lump sum as security for that card. I believe Capital One has a card like this, though i'm not 100& sure. some banks that have newcomer programs are ScotiaBank and RBC. I personally use PC Financial because there are no fees. There is no visa debit card with PC Financial and no newcomer package.

There is an entire thread dedicated to this topic on the settlement issues board on this forum.
