Unless there is some glaring issue with your application or your background, or unless you have some major health issue going on, I'd say chances of getting the visa after the medical tests have been cleared are extremely high.

well its been 09 days ..
and here on this forum, i hv been reading that ppl are getting their visa after medicals in 5 days.. tahts wat disturbing em now as hv classes starting from sept 1st

It takes over 3 days just for the reports to reach their destination by air (my reports were sent to Singapore) after the reports have been sent. And the practitioners take 3-4 days (sometimes a week or more and sometimes the same day itself) to SEND their reports after conducting the examination. So issuance of visa in 5 working days is quite unlikely. It usually takes more than a month. The CHC surely knows how to exercise our patience.

I just dont know whether to start preparing for my departure, book my tickets and other necessary things or should i just wait for teh visa first? Cuz after I would hardly get any day left to prepare for anything..

Book your tickets for 28th or 29th. There are hardly enough seats available so I suggest you do that ASAP. You'll get your visa soon insha Allah.
Mail your university about your situation (as a precaution) and ask them if its ok to miss a weeks class or so (I strongly hope that it does not come to that). I had to do so last year, as I was in a similar condition, and my uni loosened the knot and permitted me to join a week later

Mine took 5 WORKING days. Lucky me :|
Report dispatched on 25/07, reached Singapore on 29/07, visa issued on 08/08. There were 2 sets of weekends so it took a total of 10 days for the sticker to be stamped.
