Here is the situation:

I am applying for PR today outland to Argentina--my home country. The process should take about 10 months. However, my tourist visa expires May 1st, 2012. I have already applied for a 6 month extension once. If I submit a request to extend my tourist visa for 1 year with the application of my PR what are the chances of them granting my request? I want to stay in Canada with my boyfriend while the PR is processed obviously.

Thanks!

Wait until 10 business days before your legal status expires. Submit a paper application for extension. This will maximize you implied status period. In fact, you may have PR before you receive word of your extension approval. By mid April, with any luck, you will already have proof that your sponsor has been approved. Include this proof together with your extension application. Show that you and your BF have sufficient money. Chances are very good that you will be approved for an extension if your BF is approved as a sponsor.
