Hi everyone. Last year during EE i carried out a WES qualification assessment and my UK four-year undergrad masters course in psychology came back as equivalent to a Canadian Masters Degree in Psychology.

However, since moving permanently to Alberta, i have had to carry out another assessment with IQAS in order to become a psychologist here in Alberta (for which you need a masters degree minimum). Sadly today i got a report back from IQAS saying i only have equivalent to a bachelors degree & a grad diploma - meaning i won't actually be able to be a psychologist here without going back to school, my life plans have been pretty rocked by this.

Does anyone know of a way i can appeal this decision/ show them my previous assessment stating i have the equivalent to a masters degree? Or has anyone had any previous experience with IQAS being especially harsh on specialized assessments?

Thankyou.

Do they specify that your assessment has to be done by IQAS?

I think the issue is there really isn't this system in Canada of a combined undegrade and Master's program. Have you tried appealing to IQAS?

You can provide resources on the integrated Master's which is done in the UK.

Talk to IQAS and see what they say.

The problem could be minimum credits, many qualifications need a minimum amount of credits (i.e. coursework) for you to get the Canadian equivalency.
