Hey everyone, I am Sameer from Edmonton. I am a 4th year engineering student at the University of Alberta. I originally belong to New Delhi, India. I am looking to offer any sort of help, support or guidance to anyone who is coming here. I would like to make some friends. If you are from Delhi, thats even more awesome !!! My brother goes to NAIT and another one goes to MacEwan. Missing some dilliwale friends !!!!

Hoping to hear back from someone !

Btw I forgot to mention that I can be contacted by email : shooda @ ualberta.ca or by fb: facebook.com/sameer.hooda or simply reply here !!!

Hi, I am new to this forum, and I just can't find the New Topic button. :'(
I am studying in Edmonton, AB, and interested in applying for U of A, hope can be your schoolmate, :D

since you're a international student too, maybe you can help me with my question?

I already renewed my study permit for another year which ends on September 2016. I am out of Canada now, I think I should be able to return back to Canada without problem as both my study permit and temporary visa are still valid, temporary visa will expired September 30, 2014, and on my passport, NOs. of entries is multiple, can anyone pls tell me if I still need to renew my temporary visa?

thx.

HI, looks like I have to reply to a post 1st then I got the New Topic button, but if you know the answer, could u pls help me?

appreciate it.

No buddy, you do not need to. You can simply come back as both of your documents are still valid. however depending upon if ur permit was given after june 2014, you will have to be enrolled as soon as u come back as its illegal for u to be in canada without being full time enrolled if ur permit was issued after june 2014, otherwise, its fine. in either case you can return to canada.

I know I can come back to Canada without problem, my question is : after I am back to edmonton, should I renew my TRV as it will be expired by the end of this Sept.
thx.

Yes you should. You can stay inside the country with just the study permit. But you would require a TRV to go outside of canada and come back. But as long as you are just staying in canada, an expired TRV is alright as long as you have a valid study permit.

oh, wait, actually I have another question, so if I will stay in Canada for a while, let's say more than a year, does it mean I don't have to renew my visa until my study permit is about to expire as long as I stay in Canada? the reason I am asking this question is if I renew my visa now, it will expire in a year (probably), next year I have to renew it again, and if I wait until next year to renew it, I can save one renew fee?

thx.

As long as you are inside canada, all u need is Study permit. You only need TRV to go out and come back, but if you never leave, study permit is sufficient.

Hello,

I was thinking to apply to Engineering management master program in January in-take. How much will be our expense per year? Is the city good? Any racism? Can we get part time jobs easily?

Your fees for Eng Management will be round 8000$ per year. If its M.Eng. If its M.Sc you will get a funding of around 24,000 $, so you will have net 16,000$ on your hand. Part time jobs are easy to find. Racism is very less, certainly lesser than USA or what we have in India anyway.

Thank you, How to did you get into that college? For masters we have find supervisors before even applying, any suggestions on that?

What is the cut off marks for M.Eng. Mechanical admission in UOA?
