Hey all,

So my fiancé lives in Canada and is a Canadian citizen and I live in the UK and I'm a UK citizen. we want to get married next summer.. We want to get married in Canada and then have apply for an inland visa so we don't have to be separated when married.

I had a question

1) the boarder authorities know that we are engaged. Is they any specific requirements that have to be done before I could fly to Canada and get married?

I'm still trying to get an understanding of the process completely and feel my understanding is a little patchy. Not only that I wondered like if I arrived in Canada to get married without doing it the correct way they could make it really hard for me, I'm an honest person and wouldn't lie when they ask me questions. So I want to make sure I have done everything. So they don't refuse me but also so I follow the process

I would really appreciate help on this one

Thanks

I don't understand how the border authorities know you are engaged?

There's no requirements, you can get married in Canada with visitor status

If you tell them they will know. It's up to you to share that info, but should be honest if asked.

When in Canada you can just get a marriage license, then get married. Not a big deal.

Also after married, you should apply OUTLAND through London visa office. Just maintain your visitor status by extending it when needed, to remain in Canada. There is no real good reason to apply inland for visa-exempt applicants.

Look at IEC working holiday visa for UK citizens if you want to work in Canada while your outland app is processing.
