Due to certain financial issues, we have used a great proportion of our savings prior to the knowledge that our PR status would come through so quickly. We would be under the required amount of savings for immigration. We have our visas which are valid until January 4th 2014. As we are not intending to move to Canada next year and also have to replenish our savings, are there means for extension? Or could we do our landing making the Canada immigration authorities aware that we are not intending to move for a substantial amount of time - at least for 2 years? What options do we have?

1. You have one. The COPR will not be extended, so you have to "land" before the 14th of January and you have to show proof of settlement funds.

Thank you, we are aware of this however if our funds are below the required amount, what options do we have? We would not be living in Canada at this time.

Its better not to inform the Immigration officer that you will be returning bcos they will not process your PR card ... You can take a loan for 3 months ... enter before the medical expiry date and then return but never mention to the Landing officer that you will stay shortly ... You should be able to convince them that you will stay permanatly ... I entered on April 29th and exited on May 23rd so there is no problem in doing your landing and exiting...

Hope this helps...
