We received an email, what is the next step?

Hello all,

So just to give some background information about our case, my older brother who is a Canadian PR applied to sponsor our mother earlier this year, and because at the time I was under 21 I was registered as a dependent and included on the application. On August 23, my brother received a email from the "Case processing centre Mississauga" stating that our application has been accepted under the intake cap for 2018" but does not say much about what happens next.

-What happens next, do we wait for them to contact us/my older brother? If so, how long does this usually take? or is there anything we need to do from our side now?
-From this point, are we basically certain to be approved as long as our paperwork in order or is there still a chance of being rejected?
-We are based in Beirut, Lebanon. Does anyone have any idea how long processing times will take for us to get the approval to come over to Canada? I find answers varying from 2-4 years.
-Lastly, When our application was sent I was under the age of 21 but my birthday has since passed and I will obviously be well over the age of 21 by the time we receive an approval. Does this matter or am I good as long as I was under 21 at the time of submitting the application?

Just need to verify a few points. Were you 21 (not turned 22 yet) when the application was submitted and signed (August 23).
I think if your brother has enough income to support sponsoring you and your parents, you will be fine.

The only catch is if the application is returned and you have reached age 22 before he can re-submit the application again.
But if the forms are done properly, this should not happen.

Your age is locked when the complete application is submitted. Doesn't matter what age when the application is approved.

You will probably be contacted by IRCC to do medical exam, biometrics, any background check followup etc. It could take a while. IRCC’s website has some information about expected processing time.

Sorry if I was not clear enough! I turned 21 on May 21st, We submitted our paperwork before my birthday so I guess my age is locked in at the age of 20 which is great! I don't turn 22 until May 21 2019.

btw. they do not pre-screen income qualification when they randomly select applicants in the lottery. But I believe your brother won't submit his interest to apply unless he qualifies. Hopefully you are good to go.

As YVR123 said above, they do not screen income when selecting lottery applicants and unfortunately, there was no actual screening when submitting the interest form. Many people outright lied on the form about meeting the income requirement when they didn't. It was up to your brother to ensure that he did meet the requirements. A refusal based on low income happens while the app is actually being processed.
