So I understand the first step is being approved to sponsor which is currently 70 days.

But does that mean we hear nothing from anyone until then?

I'm also not sure yet what ecas is....will they send a letter explaining or is it up to us to figure it out?

With me, they sent me a letter by mail giving me a respnse that I was good to go and that they were sending the PR to Singapore VO. With the letter came my file number. But you can check ecas here now if you have your IMM 5401 reciept number...

then go to the right and click 'check application status', follow prompts to get to 'Client Application Status'.

There wont be any news until they get your info but thats how to check anyway.

That's right - you won't hear anything until the sponsor has been approved.
