Hey, I was wondering if anyoneone else is currently going through the common-law sponsorship process in Warsaw, and what are the processing times? On the website it says 3 months (office in Mississauga) and 8 months in Warsaw but I am wondering if the process takes longer or hopefully shorter. Also, I was wondering if anybody knows if many applications get rejected?

Thanks in advance!

There is another thread about Warsaw that is a bit more alive: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/poland-warsaw-t104268.30.html

There are really not many people going through the Warsaw Visa Office. So we can not really say what are the real times, except the time indicated on the CIC website of 8 months. We are a couple of people on the other thread currently going through Warsaw. Not too sure about rejects, same thing for interviews. Really can not say. As soon as I hear something about our case, I will write it on the forum.

Hi lioha,

thank you a lot for letting me know about the other stream! It looks more lively indeed. Any information once you find out about your case would be appreciated. We (myself as applicant and my Canadian boyfriend sponsoring me) will be going through that external process, we are going to apply in November/December.

Did you and your partner live together at the moment of applying? We are going to apply under the common-law and are not sure whether my absence here will not jeopardize the continuity of common law. On the one hand this external process seems to be for people in a situation like ours (my work permit got rejected and I will have to leave), on the other hand we heard about stories of people who applied externally and got rejected because they did not live together when the application was being processed.

Confusing.. :(

I applied for my wife (married) and not a common law partner, and the only reason why we are not leaving together is because Canadian Immigration refused re-entrance to Canada to my wife (still girlfriend at that time). Now for not leaving together, if I remember well from the guide you need to have lived for at leas a year (proovable) to apply to sponsor a common law partner. You do not neeed to currently leave together, but of course why you do not leave together right now should be reflected in you answers to the questions of the form (which basically make you write all your relationship story). You can say, well we are not leaving together now as there is no way for me to stay in Canada without violating the law. I saw you asked a question in the other Warsaw thread to Nicellina, she is applying as common law I think also, so she will be able to provide you more details as I never really focused on common law, I was applying as a married couple.

Thank you so much for your help and all the best for your application!!
