I've been doig a ton of research on this website as well as the official canada.ca/immigration website and I just have a number of questions I'd like to gain some clarity on if possible.

I'm currently 30 years old and wanting to join my 31 year old Canadian wife in Saskatchewan.
We got married a short time ago in Dallas, Texas, US.
I have a planned upcoming trip to go out to Saskatchewan in the beginning of October.
Our plan was always for me to move up there to join her and her mother and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to just stay there when I go up there in October.

Question 1 : I've come to understand that one can travel to Canada and stay for a total of 6 months and would have "temporary resident status" as a legal immigration status, is this correct ?

Question 2 : If I were to stay in Canada, would it be best to submit an visa extension as well as an open work permit when we submit the application for Family Class Sponsorship ?

Question 3 : If I were to not stay in Canada during the duration of the application process would that change whether or not we apply inland or outland ?

Question 4 : I was arrested for simple possession of marijuana ( it was less than a gram ) in the state or Arkansas, US last December, would this make me "criminally "inadmissible"

Question 5 : If I am in fact criminally admissible, would I need to be "deemed rehabilitated" before I start the application process ?

You need to look into the simple possession charge immediately and determine the equivalent charge in Canadian law. If this charge makes you inadmissible, that means visiting or moving to Canada within the next five years will effectively be impossible. Focus on this first before you look into anything else. This is what will determine what is and isn't feasible with regards to coming to Canada.
