Hi, I'm a 17 year old who wants to immigrate at age 18 to Canada. I know I need a visa, PR status, etc. etc, but I want to know how hard it will be to get a job at age 18. I have a friend who lives in Canada.

I simply dislike the way the US is going at the moment and have been wanting to move all my life. How much would renting an apartment cost, how would I apply for work etc. etc.

An easy to understand website would be preferable, the sites i've read have extensive wording.

You should start with a working holiday "swap" visa, which will give you an open work permit in Canada for 1 year. I believe you will need to have enrolled first in college/university in the US. http://www.swap.ca/in_eng/

Or you could enroll in a college/university in Canada and get a study permit to come here. Of course you'd have to pay international student fees which can be very expensive, and show a sizeable amount in savings to cover your living expenses.

Apart from this, you need to be a skilled worker and have necessary education/experience in certain job fields Canada is looking for, if you ever want to apply to immigrate here as a permanent resident.

It's very hard to immigrate at the age of 18 because you don't have the education and skills that you need in order to apply for PR. Even if you could get a low skilled job and a work permit, it's pretty much a dead end because it doesn't lead to PR. Even if you find love, get married and get sponsored, immigration will probably question your application too because of your age.

As others have said, look into studying in Canada and if that is not possible, look into doing your studies or apprenticeship in the US so you can get either a skilled work permit in Canada which can lead to PR or can apply for PR directly.

You should assume it will be impossible to secure a job in Canada at age 18 and also not possible to move to Canada. As others have recommended, if you complete college first - you will have more options. If you don't want to attend college, take up a trade in the US and get a few years of experience under your belt.
