Hello, I am in a bit of a bind. I would like to get married to my spouse who is a citizen from mainland China and eventually sponsor her to come to Canada to live with me, but from what I am reading from posts on this forum is that I will have to provide 20 photos as proof that our relationship is real?

The problem is I have a phobia of being photographed and haven't allowed anyone to have my photo taken since I was really young, around 7 or 8 years old. The only exceptions were for government documents and even just getting my passport photo, drivers license and health card photo were really traumatizing experiences for me and I only had them done because I had no choice.

Does anyone know if daily text messages between the two of us for the past half a year plus plane tickets as well as passport entry stamps showing that I lived in China for the past 3 months would suffice? And if I were to get a document from a psychiatrist / doctor proving that I have an actual phobia for having my photo taken, if the government would give me a pass.

As a worst case scenario, I am considering asking people to take photos of the two of us, and having them not show me the photos afterwards so that I won't see them, but unfortunately this would only delay the trauma temporarily since I would have to sift through the photos and choose 20 photos to provide on the application eventually

I think you would be on a ' slippery slope ' for future frustrations in dealing with IRCC.
Not to say your relationship isn't genuine but the application would be highly scrutinized.
Can you handle it? If so, then do more research and spend much more time together.
Read the guide carefully and ask yourself some important questions before jumping in.
You will need lots of proofs and they may ask for a psychiatric report.

Regarding the 20 photo's. If it was me, I would drink 6 beer and have many photo's
taken with my future spouse. Then let him/her pick out the best ones......No Trauma.

You actually need photos throughout your relationship and at times like your wedding. Have your spouse pick out the pictures and submit the application. They can be candid shots so you don’t need to know they were taken.
