Hi Guys,

I would really appreciate any help at all here. So basically I have never been to Canada yet, however my girlfriend lives there and i really want to move to be with her. The distance in the relationship between Ireland to Canada is very difficult and I really want to be with her. However I have no idea how to go about moving there. And really need to look at all my options on how to go about it.

I am pleading for your help on this one and would very much appreciate it.

Many thanks

R

Depending on your age, you may want to look into the IEC / Working Holiday Visa program which would allow you to live and work in Canada temporarily. I would start there.

Otherwise, if you are looking to move to Canada permanently, the easiest way would be to marry your girlfriend and have her sponsor you for permanent residency. She can also sponsor you once you are common law partner - common law means you have physically lived together continuously for at least one full year.

There are also ways you can immigrate on your own - how possible this is will depend on your age, level of education, experience, occupation, etc. You can find detailed information about these programs here (plan to spend quite a bit of time reading through it all): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

Depending on your age, a study permit could be an option as well provided you have $25K+ available to fund your first year tuition and living expenses.
