Hello,

I am the permanent resident of Canada. I got married in July and I brought my wife to Canada through visitor visa. New Delhi, India has issued visa for 10years in the passport however I know that once she is in Canada, the visa is valid for only 6months. So if I want to extend the visitor visa then i can see online that I have to submit the application for extension. I want to know the details for the following information please:

1. Whether I need to send a passport to CIC. In my case I dont think it is required because I have 10 years valid visa on my wife's passport
2. After submitting whether they will send me a letter stating that my wife's visa is extended or please what will happen exactly?

Thanks in advance...

No.

The TRV (visit visa) is good for 10 years. On entry you were given a visitor status. The visitor status is good for 6 months.
