We (my common law spouse and I) received the nomination by the Manitoba Nominee Program in March 2008.
We also passed the medical exam in July 2008 and now we are waiting for our permanent residence status.

Now we've been told, that we do have to stay for at least one more year after receiving the permanent residence
status to work in Manitoba.

We desperately tried to find some information but we couldn't find some.
Our question is: "Do we have to stay one more year in Manitoba after receiving our permanent resident status?"

Not generally, you are commited to try and settle there,But if other opportunities come up.....

Who told you this and do you have it in writing? If there is no written contract to stay a year, then you don't have to but it would be smart to at least stay for a few months so you could say you made an attempt to settle.
