Waiting for Work Permit. Can I leave and reenter?

Hi, I am italian and I came to Canada with a student permit. In october i applied for my work permit. It is being processed. I have a wedding in florida where i have been invited (on a weekend, just few days in january).

I have an ETA here as visa. And my student permit expires in march 2024. But technically i am waiting for the work permit.

Is it wise to leave the country for 3days to go to florida (with my Canadian boyfriend/we are not living together) and come back?

What could happen? Can they stop me from coming back? Can they stop processing my permit? I might bot be allowed to reenter? Is there anything he , as Canadian, could do to help?

Post grad work permit. I am not studying now, i graduated in october

You should be able to enter Canada with your ETA. It is always up to CBSA in the end. Once you stop studying your study permit should stop being valid 90 days afterwards although not always done. You could also consider flagpoling if you have a land border close by and want to have your PGWP before going to Florida. You’d have to look at when you can flagpole at the border and how many applications the border accept that day.

What is flagpoling? If i do not receive my permit before, can the processing of my permit be suspended because of my exiting the country?
The expiration day on my study permit is march 27 of 2024
