My Spouse is in USA on H1B visa and I am in USA on a H4 EAD.
Last year on a special program Canada offered W1 open work permit to10,000- H1B visa holders.
My spouse applied and got their W1 Open work permit in 1 month.
My application for the same W1 open work permit was applied at the same time along with my spouse.
My application took 12 months and now 1 year later , I was asked to submit my passport and within 1 week ,I got my own W1 open work permit stamped on my Passport.
My Spouse is planning to continue working in USA on their H1B visa but I wish to move to Canada to work and live on my W1 open work permit.
My questions is -
1. Can I move and work on this open work permit without my spouse being there in Canada.
2. Can I continue to work in Canada till the expiry of my W1 open work permit and my spouse can continue to stay and work in USA on their H1B visa.
My concern in asking these questions is to make sure my W1 is not contingent to my spouse's W1.
