VO Requesting Passport Photos?

Hi everyone

The VO emailed asking for 4 passport photos.
Do we need to put anything on the back of them? (signatures, stamps, anything?)

We already sent a lot of ID photos in with the application (everything on both checklists), so these would be in addition to them.

Has anyone had requests for passport photos before?
Maybe you can help us out.

Also, we are assuming they need to be the size of Canadian Passport photos.
Are we wrong in thinking that?
Are they expecting Passport photos using the size for the other country?

We sent in copies of the passports.
We're not "In Process" yet either.

Why would they request Passport photos when we already have passports?
Do they need them for the Visa also?

Immigration photos are different from passport photos. Check the country specific information for your application. The specs for the photo size should be documented there, in addition to any information that needs to be put on the back. When my wife got her photos done at a professional place, they asked the purpose of the photos and they were familiar with Canadian immigration specs. They also have information printed on the back of the photo like location and date of the photo, in addition to fields where you can enter your name and signature.

If you sent in the photos already and the VO is asking for them again, it could be they simply lost them.

As for why they ask for the photos, they will use it for the PR card in additional to attach it to your file.

Yeah, at first I thought they wanted more immigration photos too, but the email specifies "Passport photos"

I knew it was weird!
And each country has different specs for the passport photo requirements.
The email didn't specify so we went with Canada in attempt to be on the safe side.

I'm not sure why they would ask for "passport photos". But it is best to give them what they want I suppose.

Got the same thing too... Embassy emailed me to send visa photos again which I remembered I sent them already when we passed my application last November 2013. I got now my passport request from the embassy June 6, 2014 and asking me for the APPENDIX A which is already attached in the email they sent me and the APPENDIX B which is the new visa ID PICTURE. I am doing it all again coz they think they need it (again).

A visa picture would make sense.
I don't understand what they want with passport photos though.

Maybe they lost them?
I imagine pictures go flying everywhere all the time when they open the envelopes.

And I wonder if they get all the ones given to the doctors for the medicals if they get the results online or something.

I don't understand how it all works, but I guess all we can do is shell out what they ask for and pray for the best
