Hello All,

As anyone recently applied for an extension?
Does anyone have any idea what CIC is looking for on an application?

I applied for an extension a year ago (Sept 2014)
I will be applying for another one this month.
What did you mean by what CIC is looking for on an application?

Hi Tracey what info will give me a strong case etc etc...

The only thing I really have experience with is that I applied for my extension so that I could establish Common Law with my partner. You have to live with your partner for a year to establish Common Law. You just have to be honest and send all the correct documentation.
I guess it just depends on the reason you are applying for your extension and what information you send them.

Thank you Tracey :D

No problem!
Let me know if you need any help with your extension application. I will be doing mine this month. :)

Hi Tracy,
Can you pls give me an advice.
I'm in Canada for almost 6 months, I have visitor visa,(multiple entry, no visitor record) from 30. June 2015.- 29. December.2015. I'm going to apply for an extension next week. I'm here with my wife, she has an open work permit and we have NSPNP but we haven't yet applied for PR. I want to apply for visitor visa extension but my father has been diagnosed cancer last month and I want to go to visit him.

1. If I apply for visitor extension - Can I leave Canada and come back before decision is made?
2. Do I have to choose in questionnaire - Want to stay in Canada temporarily ''less then 6 months or longer then 6 months''?
3. I want to apply for an open work permit because we have Provincial nomination - any advice?

Thank you!

Well, I did go to the border today and I got one year extension and they only ask me for funds in my bank account and that's all .
:) it was better for me instead of submit an application for extension and pay 100$ and wait 3 months for process and they might ask for medical exam. so I did this way and was good for me but I was waiting from almost an hour.

Hello!! I apologize but I don't think I know how to answer your questions in relation to your Visa extension. I am not familar with a visitor visa's (muliple entry)
I am from the US and we are a visa exempt country. I do know for me if I leave Canada then my "visitor" status ends. I would have to start over once I came back. I do not know anything about work permits either.

I think it would be best to post your question in a new post so that maybe a more experienced member can help you.

I am sorry!
Best Wishes!!

Hi Rogersmac congrats for getting your e tension via the border instead of online or paper application which takes longer. Can you enlighten us further about your experience. Do you have to pay for that? I just recently got my TRV extension Dec 9, 2015 and it will be good until Dec 31,2016.
My initial entry was August 4,2014... And get extension every six months. So by Feb I will have to extend.
Another question are you from visa exempt country? Thanks you

thank you, well I didn't even pay anything for my extension , plus I'm not from visa exempt country I have TRV visa on my passport valid till 2019. so that's pretty much I didn't have give anything expect there is funds sitting in my bank account. one year the give me and I don't have to leave the country every six months . so it valid till next 2016-12-19.

Great Rogersmac!
Your testimonial made me decide to do the same, I am waiting for my Spousal Sponsorship for PR, and right now my husband has been approved to sponsor me, so I plan to just bring all the documents pertaining to that Application, and yes joint accounts too.

Thanks for your post Rogermac, I am not from a visa exempt country my visa expires 2018 Im here for 3mths and want to do an extension. What reason did you give for wanting to stay?
