Hello There ,

My mother currently holds an Indian passport and she got the ETA from USA when she visited us few months ago from USA .At the moment ,she is in India and would like to visit us in Canada . Would anyone know if she can travel with that ETA issued by USA govt or she would require to apply for a visitors visa again and get the paper or stamp visa in her passport.

Regards
:)

Do you mean ESTA from US? Or eTA from Canada?

These are 2 separate countries. So their tourist visas can only be used from the issued country.

Did she visit you from USA (traveled from USA to Canada)? Or visit you in USA from India?

Its eTA which was issued by Canadian govt when she applied for it while she was in USA . she is a green card holder from states. She visited us while she was in USA.She went back to india after her visit here in canada and now she wanted to come back and the travel agent mentioned that she might not be able to travel from india to canada since the eTA was approved while she was in states.

Then she can use the same eTA.

Do I have to apply for an eTA each time I travel to Canada?
No. Once approved, your eTA is valid for five years or until your passport expires – whichever comes first. You can come to Canada as many times as you wish as long as your eTA remains valid.

so I am assuming she wont have any issue departing from India using that eTA ? And their is no need for her to go via USA and the Canadian immigration or Indian immigration will accept the eTA issued by states on the bases of her green card?

As far as I know, green card isn't a travel document. She used her passport to apply for eTA, correct?

From cic website:
"Do I need eTA if I have green card?
As a U.S. Green Card holder, you do not need a visitor visa to travel to Canada. However, you are expected to have an eTA if you plan to fly to or transit through Canada. ... proof of status in the U.S. (such as a valid Green Card), and. your valid passport that you used to apply for your eTA."

The airline should be OK if she carries her green card and her passport with eTA. Canadian immigration will accept the eTA.

I do not know about Indian immigration and how they treat green card holders.
